The cinema Scala in Bucharest was built by one of the leader
architects of the 1930s pioneering Modernist movement in
Germany: Rudolf Fränkel. He was also the designer of the
Lichtberg Cinema, another celebrated film theater built in Berlin
in 1929, that shares with the Scala its reminiscences of the
compelling expressionist architecture of Erich Mendelsohn.
