Dear Julie,

"In the space between the two structures a wall of
black lava creates the condition for the growth of
moss and a new reflecting pool offers a urban habitat
for aquatic fauna." (Studio Granda)

Dear Natalie,

“Architecture should spring forth from every location
and circumstances. It is subject to a keen sense of
form but must appeal to human emotion.” (Alvar Aalto)

Dear Sybi,

The building for the National Museum of Iceland
was originally built as a warehouse that included
some office space. It was one of the largest
building in Iceland and it was designed by one of
the most influential modern architects in the
country in functionalist style.

Besos,
R

1103. Im Asmundur-Museum in Reykjavik

Dear Ríkarður,

Icelandic sculptor Ásmundur Sveinsson designed and
constructed his house and studio from 1942 to 1959
inspired by the vernacular domed buildings typically seen
in the Mediterranean and Middle East cultures. In 1983
an addition to the building was built to serve as the
Ásmundur Sveinsson Sculpture Museum. The picture
shows a crescent-shaped building that housed the
original scupltor's studio.

Greetings,
R

Dear Stefano,

This building is a small Congress Hall built by
all the Nordic Countries in Reykjavik. It was finished
in 1968 and designed by Alvar Aalto, naturally!
