En esta foto del espectacular Castillo de Olite

se aprecia a la izquierda la plaza Carlos III el

Noble cuya rehabilitación la llevó a cabo el 

arquitecto navarro Francisco Patxi Mangado.

creo: ¿Es una arquitectura que se centra en lo 

posible y en resolver problemas, o es una 

arquitectura que inspira belleza? Es un 

concepto discutible. Realmente necesita ser 

ambas cosas a la vez. No puede haber belleza 

arquitectónica sin ofrecer una respuesta a

Este famoso museo en Helsinki fue ideado originalmente
como fruto de dos fuerzas convergentes en su emplazamiento: la "línea cultural" que lo curva hacia el magnífico Palacio de Conciertos llamado Finlandia Hall, y la "línea natural" que lo desvía hacia el paisaje del fondo y la Bahía de Töölö. El resultado es un edificio espectacular y luminoso. Paralelismos entre espacio y vida.

"For our Helsinki Museum of Contemporary
Art, Kiasma the most important building
material was light. Of the twenty-five galleries
which make up the main function of the
museum all have a slice of natural light. The
behavior of light guided many decisions. The
low angle of the Helsinki sun – never reaching
above 51 degrees – helps give sectional form
to the curved “light catching” aspect of the
architecture. Changes in natural lighting
conditions are left visible – so passing clouds
bring shadow – brightness varies as the interior

96. Pavilhao de Portugal, Expo 98

Cristina,

Este es el Pabellon de Portugal de la Expo 98 que
como sabras proyecto Siza con la colaboracion del
ingeniero Cecil Balmond de Ove Arup. La losa, de 20
centimetros de espesor contiene tubos a traves de los
cuales pasan los tensores. Siza penso en proyectos como
los de Asplund para laExposicionde Estocolmo de 1930,
en los grandes espacios cubiertos con losas de Niemeyer
y en la plaza semi cubierta de Villanueva de la Universidad
de Caracas cuando lo estaba proyectando.
