a free nation that encourages individual effort and
creativity" (Douglas Cardinal)

Dear Oscar,

"Wherever technology reaches its real fulfillment,
it transcends into architecture"

Dear David,

"I like very much the word passion, because it comes
from the Latin passio, which means “suffering.”
(Santiago Calatrava)

built and designed today is pure s." (Frank Gehry)

Dear Richard,

"We are magical beings, as human beings, because
we have this power of creativity. No other beings on
this planet have this gift because their pattern of
existence are set and just as a deer is always a deer, a
bear can only be a bear, a fish only a fish. But, we can recreate ourselves and create the tools to be anything
we want, faster than a cheetah, fly higher than a bird, stronger than an elephant: we are not limited. All we
have to do is declare our intentions powerfully and
keep our word, not operating on reason, but on a total commitment and we make our visions happen."
(Douglas Cardinal, Blackfoot)

Peace,

Dear Nigel,

"Like frozen music in time, we capture the spirit of
a place whose momentary magic lies embedded
within the stone that supports it.” (Douglas Cardinal)

Dear Sean,

"Architecture is a statement of the way of life of its occupants"

Dear Alison and Michelle,

"It matters little if a building offers the most sophisticated
technology and services, if the humanizing ingredient is
missing. Communication is the product of perception, and
perception is the basis of change" (James Wines)

Respectfully.

Estimado Javier,

"Arquitectos y escritores suelen estar mas cercanos de lo
que se piensa, porque las casas y los libros sirven para lo
mismo: para eludir la intemperie."
(Labia, Eloy Tizon)

Un fuerte abrazo.

Dear Mark,

The "Big O" in Montreal is one of the most recognizable
stadiums in the world and a masterpiece of modern
organic architecture. Planned for the 1976 Olympic
Games, its 175-metre tower is the tallest inclined structure
in the world.

Dear Zoe,

The Museum of Anthropology of the University of British
Columbia in Vancouver was designed in such a way that
it resembled the timber framing constructions of the first
Pacific Northwest Coast communities. The building though,
is primarily made out of reinforced concrete and tempered
glass walls.

629. The Cuban Pavilion. Montreal 1967

Dear Mel,

The Cuban Pavilion at Expo 67 in Montreal stood for
some basic modern notions: flexibility and adaptability.
In fact, this remarkable pavilion was meant to be
re-used as an exhibition pavilion in Cuba later on, but
regrettably that never happened.

R

535. Expo 67 Montreal, Canada. Habitat 67

Dear Sven,

"The design has a connection with history. This is what
I wanted to achieve in this design, the memory of what
ancient libraries might have been like" (Moshe Safdie)

Dear Chuck,

"Architecture is always the
three-dimensional expression out of

(Mies van der Rohe)

Dear Pier,

La Tour de la Bourse is a skyscraper built in 1964 by
Luigi Moretti and Pier Luigi Nervi. It is considered by
many to be a masterpiece of skyscraper design. Its
facades feature a bronze-tinted curtain wall that
establish a strong counterpoint with the whiteness of
the columns at the corners.
