2215. Lappeenranta, The church of Lauritsala. Finland

Querido Juan,

Dear Luke,

"The familiar is what makes building meaningful to
us, while the surprising elements should give us a
fresh view of the familiar. The new gives fresh life
to the old, and makes it apply more particularly to
us." (Charles Moore)

Querida Cristina,

hemos construido." (Juan Navarro Baldeweg)

Muchos besos.

Dear Erik,

of architecture is to eliminate all disturbing
elements." (Alvar Aalto)

Dear Virpi,

"Humans belong to nature as much as pines and birches
do. That is where the scale comes from. I can not ignore
it. I can not turn humans into giants or dwarves. I have
to conform to the current human dimensions."

Dear Jan,

"The ideal situation is to create something that, through
its presence, makes the overall environment look better,

good by virtue of its relationship with the surrounding

Dear Goran,

"In almost every task involving form, there are dozens,
often hundreds of contradictory elements, which need to
be forced to work in harmony by man's will. This
harmony can be achieved only through art."

recogimiento." (Martin Correa Prieto)

Dear Aarno,

"To me, a building as it stands, as a
piece of architecture, is nothing. Its
meaning comes only in counterpoint
with its surroundings, with life, and
with light." (Juha Leiviskä)

Sincerely,
R

2199. Church of the Light, Ibaraki

Dear Koichi,

"In all my works, light is an important
controlling factor. I create enclosed spaces
mainly by means of thick concrete walls.
The primary reason is to create a place for
the individual, a zone for oneself within
society. When the external factors of a
city's environment require the wall to be
without openings, the interior must be
especially full and satisfying."
(Tadao Ando)

Respectfully,

Dear Walter,

"Each new style gradually emerges from the earlier

human tasks, and viewpoints demand a change of
reconstitution of existing forms." (Otto Wagner)

Dear Frank,

"By superimposing one form on top of

Dear Lis,

"There is a rumor that I can't draw and never could.
This is probably because I work so much with models.

Querida Cristina,

torres. Puig i Cadafalch junto con Domènech i Montaner

2176. Van Nelle Factory

Dear Jan,

This is a vintage postcard featuring the Van Nelle
Factory built between 1925 and 1931. The complex
shows a clear influence of Soviet Constructivism.
It was in operation until 1997 when it became a
large co-working space.

2175. Kunsthaus Graz

Dear John,

"It is quite possible in the future, the architecture
might come from other sources, like commercially
supported research groups. from odd corners or
funny places, you know?
Or it might come from people who don't call
themselves architects...
It is quite conceivable." (Peter Cook)

Sincerely,
R

2174. Sorbolo. Asilo Monumento

Querido Juan,

R
