Querido Rafa,

Esta antigua postal muestra una de las pocas 

edificaciones de nueva planta construidas por 

Josep Maria Jujol. El encargo provino de Josefa 

Romeu, viuda de Gibert y tía del arquitecto. 

El edificio se compone de cinco cuerpos cilíndricos 

interconectados: tres de mayor tamaño e igual 

altura, y dos más pequeños que albergan las 

escaleras de acceso a las buhardillas 

y los miradores. Originalmente el edificio constaba 

de dos viviendas separadas longitudinalmente, ambas 

perfectamente simétricas.

Querido Antonio,

La Iglesia en Basilea dedicada

a San Antonio fue la primera en 

Suiza construida en hormigón 

armado en bruto. La iglesia de 

San Antonio del arquitecto Karl 

Moser tiene una la torre de 62 

metros de altura y posee una 

arquitectura austera que recuerda 

a los edificios industriales. Los

ciudadanos del lugar le llamaban 

el silo de alma.

Dear Angela,

"By state prerogative I was appointed chief artist for 

the Soviet pavilion at the International Press 

Exhibition in Cologne [in 1928]. The foreign press 

praised my design as a great achievement of Soviet 

culture. For the pavilion I’d designed a photomontage 

frieze which was 24 meters long and 3.5 meters wide. 

It became the model for all those gigantic montages, 

and also a symbol for future exhibitions. I received 

great accolades from the state for this work. Another 

part of my duties at the time was the artistic and 

polygraphic layout of albums, journals etc. "

Dear Timo,

The Nordic House in Tórshavn is more than just

an important cultural and congress center. It is a

beautiful materialized symbol of Nordic cooperation.

One of the architects, Ola Steen was from Norway,

the other one Kolbrún Ragnarsdóttir from Iceland.

The steel girder structure came from Denmark, the

floor was Norwegian granite and the interior design 

was done by Alvar Aalto, the most important architect 

of Finland.

The building in Via Milano 3 in Busto Arsizio 

designed and built by Enrico Castiglioni is an 

example of what Giancarlo Ortelli defined with 

the term "decorazione-struttura" that refers to the 

figurative use of the structural elements affecting 

the pure relationship between the shape of the

building and the structural function.

El futurista edificio de la aduana fue parte de la 

moderna reconstrucción de Agadir después del

devastador terremoto de 1960. Este edificio es

paradigmático del estilo "Agadir" caracterizado por

forma esculturales de hormigón armado e 

influencias brutalistas.

Dear Nora,

The Kilden Performing Arts Center with its featuring

large undulating oak canopy is a remarkable

cultural center opened in 2012 and extended in 2014.

It includes a Concert hall with 1200 seats, a Theatre-

Opera hall with 750 seats, a multipurpose hall and 

a small theatre hall, offices, workshops, rehearsal 

spaces, and a parking garage for 400 cars.

Next to this building stands the new Kunstilo Museum

occupying a former large grain silo and opened in 

2024.

Reykjavik was designed in 1937 and took over 

40 years to be completed becoming later a top 

attraction in Reykjavik. His architect said to have 

designed it to resemble the basalt lava flows of 

Iceland's landscape.

The Oslo City Hall building's foundation stone was 

laid in 1931 and the shell was completed in 1936. 

However construction came to a halt as war broke 

out in 1940.  Construction resumed after the war 

and the official opening took place in 1950, on the 

occasion of the city's 900th anniversary.

ecclesiastical architecture, demonstrates 

Åsbjørn Gathe's originality. He wanted to

Each arm of the Greek-cross floor plan of 

the church is reserved for one of the elements: 

blue is equated with water, red with fire, 

brown with earth, and grey with air.

La iglesia de San Giovanni Bono se incluyó en el 

proyecto de construcción del nuevo barrio de 

Sant'Ambrogio en Milán que se construyó en 1968.

El diseño de la iglesia y de todo el barrio se debe 

a Arrigo Arrighetti. Las paredes, tanto interiores 

como exteriores, están hechas de hormigón armado

visto, perforadas por una gran cantidad de pequeñas 

ventanas de colores.

The buildings of the old Sunila sawmill were converted 

for the use of the new pulp mill community according 

to the plans of Aino and Alvar Aalto. The old buildings 

were used to house, among other things, the clerks' club, 

the foreman's club, a kindergarten and a library. 

The architecture of the mill area was largely determined 

by the production process, and the definitive point of 

reference for the area was the office building. Indeed 

Alvar Aalto paid more attention to the design of the 

office building than the production facilities, and 

Aino Aalto was to a large extent responsible for the 

interior design.

Serbia, is a complex consisting of 

two buildings. The larger Banovina 

serves as the seat of the Government 

of Vojvodina, while the smaller 

Banski dvor serves as the seat of the 

Assembly of Vojvodina. The buildings, 

designed by Dragiša Brašovan, were 

constructed between 1936 and 1940 

in modernist style.
