2482. Agadir. Les Services des douanes.

Querido Brahim,

influencias brutalistas.

Saludos,
R

Querida Cristina,

El edificio Pabellón en el Parque
Lafayette de Detroit es un edificio
diseñado y construido por Mies en
1958. El edificio, de 22 plantas, se
asemeja por las medidas de los vanos
de 6,40 metros a las de la torre
860-890 en Lakeshore en Chicago
terminada en 1951.

Dear Olav,

This impressive functioning Lutheran church in
Reykjavik was designed in 1937 and took over
40 years to be completed becoming later a top
attraction in Reykjavik. His architect said to have
designed it to resemble the basalt lava flows of
Iceland's landscape.

Dear Xavier,

The Oslo City Hall building's foundation stone was
laid in 1931 and the shell was completed in 1936.
However construction came to a halt as war broke
out in 1940.  Construction resumed after the war
and the official opening took place in 1950, on the
occasion of the city's 900th anniversary.

Querido Juan Carlos,

Dear Isa,

"Just as it takes time for a speck of fish spawn to
develop into a fully grown fish, so, too, we need
time for everything that develops and crystallizes
in the world of ideas. Architecture demands more
of this time than other creative work."

2466. Westminster Abbey Church. Mission, B.C., Canada

Dear Anthony,

Westminster Abbey, a landmark in Canadian
ecclesiastical architecture, demonstrates
Åsbjørn Gathe's originality. He wanted to
"express something of a Benedictine antiquity,
combined with contemporary advances in
structure and design."
Each arm of the Greek-cross floor plan of
the church is reserved for one of the elements:
blue is equated with water, red with fire,
brown with earth, and grey with air.

Best regards,
R

Querida Cristina,

a Arrigo Arrighetti.

Dear Sybille,

Josef Paul Kleihues was one of the organisers
of the Berlin International Bauausstellung in
1986. He reduced the project of contemporary
architecture altogether to what he termed
"a Critical Reconstruction of the European City"
I still remember the impression the Kant Dreieck
tower left on me when we saw it as we passed
by on your motorbike.

2460. Sunilan Tehdas

Dear Rem,

The buildings of the old Sunila sawmill were converted
for the use of the new pulp mill community according
to the plans of Aino and Alvar Aalto. The old buildings
were used to house, among other things, the clerks' club,
the foreman's club, a kindergarten and a library.
The architecture of the mill area was largely determined
by the production process, and the definitive point of
reference for the area was the office building. Indeed
Alvar Aalto paid more attention to the design of the
office building than the production facilities, and
Aino Aalto was to a large extent responsible for the
interior design.

designed by Dragiša Brašovan, were
constructed between 1936 and 1940
in modernist style.

2454. Prudential Building, Buffalo. N.Y.

Querido Louis,

aseos públicos, escaleras y ascensores, y finalmente

disidente.

Dear Gustavo,

The Lyttleton tunnel Building, built in 1964 and
demolished in 2013 following severe earthquakes
that damaged the structure, was a brilliant piece
of sculptural design. The building's design
incorporated elements reflecting the maritime
heritage of Lyttelton Harbor.

Institute's 25-Year Award in 1998.
It remains a focal point for the community, and a

cultural and symbolic significance as the city's
main war memorial.
