elegante arquitecto y profesor Francesco Venezia
construyó en esta su localidad natal.

Besos,

Querido Roberto,

R

824. Fritz Wotrube Kirche, Wien Mauer

Dear Diana

This amazing church was built between 1965 and 1976
in a bucolic place near Vienna. Internationally renowned
artist Fritz Wotruba assisted by architect Fritz Mayr were
the building designers. Wotruba wanted to "form something
which shows that poverty needn't mean ugliness, that
renunciation can occur within surroundings which are
beautiful though extremely simple and nevertheless giving
you a feeling of happiness"

Best.

Dear Mark,

The "Big O" in Montreal is one of the most recognizable
stadiums in the world and a masterpiece of modern
organic architecture. Planned for the 1976 Olympic
Games, its 175-metre tower is the tallest inclined structure
in the world.

740. UBC Museum of Anthropology, Vancouver, Canada

Dear Zoe,

The Museum of Anthropology of the University of British
Columbia in Vancouver was designed in such a way that
it resembled the timber framing constructions of the first
Pacific Northwest Coast communities. The building though,
is primarily made out of reinforced concrete and tempered
glass walls.

724. University of Ife. View of the Auditorium

Dear Cesar,

The Oduduwa Hall of the University of Ife in Nigeria
was designed by Israeli architect Arieh Sharon and
local firm AMY Ltd. Sharon studied at the Bauhaus
under Gropius and Meyer and then returned to Israel
where he worked for the Israeli government planning
department. In the mid-1950s he worked in his private
office and designed among other buildings the new
campus of the University of Ife in Nigeria. The hall
is named for legendary Oduduwa who was the founder
and first king of Ife, the ancient Yoruba city.
