Dominikus Böhm, que buscaba la manera de crear
un espacio rítmico, creó con la iglesia de San Juan
Bautista una arquitectura espacial expresiva y un
edificio clave de la arquitectura eclesiástica moderna.

2389. Stuttgart. Weißenhof. Siedlung
Querida Inés,
Trasladado por la magia de esta postal histórica me
asomo a uno de los balcones del edificio de viviendas
de Mies van der Rohe que coronaba el conjunto.
Abajo y parcialmente aún puedo ver la vivienda
unifamiliar diseñada por Richard Döcker y junto a
ella la vecina diseñada por Max Taut. Ambas casas
ya no existen pues fueron destruidas o por las
bombas de la guerra o por la desidia y la
especulación ajena a la cultura.
Más allá y pasada la pequeña valla blanca que
delimita la calle, se pueden ver las tres casas
pareadas de Mart Stam y detrás de ella los edificios
de 12 apartamentos de Peter Behrens. Estos persisten
afortunadamente restaurados y en buenas condiciones.

Querida Cristina,
La casa Guiette en Amberes fue el primer
edificio construido por Le Corbusier fuera
de Francia y la única obra del arquitecto
existente en Bélgica. Este edificio es uno
de los 17 proyectos de Le Corbusier que
fueron admitidos por la UNESCO como
patrimonio mundial de la humanidad en
2016.

Dear Olof,
The Skansen Restaurant seen in this vintage postcard
was the first functionalist building in Norway. Its elliptical shape with flat roof and continuous ribbon windows was inspired by the shape of an airplane gondola. Its popular terrace has a beautiful view over
the Pipervika Bay.

An old postcard depicting the Saxon State School in Dresden. When I looked at this picture beautiful memories of my visit to your Teachers Training College at Setúbal came to my mind. A similar sense of elegance and harmony are shared between these buildings.

The Palace of Culture in Saint Petersburg (former Leningrad) was a Constructivist project built to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the October Revolution of 1917. From 1933 it was named after
writer Maxim Gorky and is able to accommodate
2,200 people.

Dear Karla,
The little church of Sainte Thérèse in Montmagny was
a smaller replica of the well-known Notre-Dame du Raincy
also built a few years earlier by Ausguste Perret.
Perret believed that "Technique, spoken in poetry, brings us
to Architecture".

Queridos Cristina y Alberto,
Os queria dedicar a vosotros esta pequeña joya que
por un golpe de suerte ha llegado a mis manos hace
poco. Es una postal holandesa enviada a Francia y
originalmente escrita el 31 de agosto de 1930 que
muestra en primer plano una vista de un tradicional
kiosko de musica y mas alla un edificio blanco
aparentemente nuevo de estilo vanguardista.
Este largo edificio contiene las viviendas en hilera para
obreros construidas por Jacobus J.P. Oud en 1927,
en la pequeña ciudad costera de Hoek van Holland.
Como ya sabreis es una obra importantisima que esta
recogida en todos los anales de arquitectura moderna
internacional por ser uno de los paradigmas del estilo
moderno aplicado a la vivienda moderna.
El valor historico, documental y singular de esta
postal la hace ser muy especial en mi coleccion.
