1029. Alicante. Playa de San Juan
Queridos primos Juan y Maica,

Cuidate mucho.

Dear Maj-Lis
This is the striking and radical Orivesi church built in 1961
by the Sirens. Its beautifully curved walls resemble the
shape of a large ship from the distance while inside
warmly embrace visitors with its impressive wood carving.
Respectfully,

Dear Kayla,
In 1927, the Turkish Ministry of Education invited
Austrian architect Ernst A. Egli to design new school
buildings around the country. For a number of years Mr.
Egli combined this job with the major task of reorganizing
the educational curriculum at the architectural department
of Ankara. In 1937 he left Turkey, became a Swiss citizen,
and began teaching at the ETH of Zurich. He returned to
Turkey in 1953 and stayed in the country for two more
years while working as a member of the UN Technical
Aid Association.
Sincerely,
R

Dear Adrian,
Although I know your favorite city is Tel-Aviv
I'm sending you a vintage postcard of Bucharest,
another city that you like too. The building in the
picture is the Adriatica Asigurarea Building, a
hidden jewel of Modernist architecture. It was
built in 1935 by German-Jewish architect Rudolf
Fränkel who had to flee from Nazi Germany in
1933. Fränkel also completed another fantastic
Modernist building of Bucharest: the Scala cinema.
Best regards,

1023. St. Olavs Kirke, Norway
Dear Sven,
Professor of Architecture Per Kartvedt designed the
St. Olav's Cathedral in Trondheim (Norway) in 1973.
Unfortunately this charming building has become
inadequate for the current requirements of the local
community. In consequence it has been planned to
replace it with a brand new building that will be designed
by Eggen Architects.
Regards.

vertices perfectos de un triangulo equilatero y mistico";
Jorge Luis Borges)

Dear uncle Richard,
"We are part of the earth and it is part of us. The
perfumed flowers are our sisters; the deer, the horse,
the great eagle, these are our brothers. The rocky
crests, the juices of the meadows, the body heat of
the pony, and man - all belong to the same family."
(Chief Seattle's words to President Franklin Roosevelt)
