Querido José,

En 1903 un grupo de macedonios hizo frente al ataque del
Imperio Otomano iniciando un movimiento que desembocaría en la creación de la República de Macedonia. En 1974 se levantó este monumento-edificio que recuerda extrañamente a las válvulas de un corazón, quizá inspirado por los corazones de aquel grupo.

"En una ciudad había una mujer tan feliz que se la

expuso en un museo, ahí ella sonreía. Irradiaba una

felicidad tal que la gente parada en la puerta tuvo que

usar anteojos de sol, no se permitió la entrada a los

niños. Cada hora recitó un aforismo sobre el amor,

la gente llegó y escribió en sus pequeños cuadernos

cuadriculados, también suspiraron felices. Ellos no

vieron cómo el celador por las noches llevaba a la

mujer al cuarto de atrás, le abría una tapa en la

espalda, le recargaba las pilas, cambiaba su falda, le
lavaba el cabello sedoso. La boca de la mujer, más

profunda que ninguno de los lagos del país de

canciones tristes, se abría y cerraba, tragaba todo y

Dear Louis,

This hotel building is been said to serve as the inspiration for the sandcrawlers used by the jawas in the movie Star Wars Episode IV, A New Hope that largely took place in Tunisia. Nonetheless, the architect of this building, that it is now under threat of demolition, was inspired by the Italian Pavilion at the 1954 Zagreb Fair.

1068. Alvar Aaalto Museo, Jyväskylä

Dear Logan,

This is the other Aalto museum that stands below the Central Finland Museum on the edge of the Jyväskylä ridge and that I mentioned in my earlier postcard. Since its foundation this museum has become an important center of Aalto studies and houses an outstanding collection of the furniture designed by this architect.

Cerca de la torre de la iglesia de San Pedro de Figueras
se observa en esta foto la maravillosa cúpula geodésica
del Buckminster Fuller español: el arquitecto Emilio Pérez Piñero (1935-1972). Perez Piñero tenía tal imaginación y talento creativo que Salvador Dalí dijo

de él que era "el gran genio de la arquitectura española"
