2330. Ostseeheilbad Burg/ Fehmarn Burgtiefe

Dear Julia,

The Baltic Sea Burgtiefe Health Resort is located on
the south beach of the island of Fehmarn and it was
built between 1965 and 1973 based on the plans by
Arne Jacobsen and his partner Otto Weitling.
The main project idea was respect for the landscape
and included apartment buildings, bungalows,
three high-rise buildings, a comunal space, a Spa
Center, and a seawater wave pool.

Best regards,
R

Dear Tamu,

"With a painter or a sculptor, one cannot begin to
alter his works, but an architect has to put up with
anything, because the makes utility objects, the
building is there to be used, and times change."
(Arne Jacobsen)

Querido Juan,

"Cuando en 1925 se me otorgó la medalla de plata en
París por el diseño de una silla me enviaron el programa
a casa en el que bajo una imagen de la misma se podía
leer "artista: Arne Jacobsen". Después de leerlo mi padre
me dijo: esto debe estar equivocado hijo mio, tú no eres
ningun artista, y además estás demasiado gordo para
llegar a serlo"
(Arne Jacobsen)

Un abrazo,

Dear Silke,

175. Mainz. Panorama Rheinufer mit Dom und Rathaus

Dear Silke,

Here is a beautiful view with the Town Hall of Mainz
designed by Arne Jacobsen and built in 1973. The
geometrical rigor of the building floor plan is strongly
influenced by the architecture of Louis Kahn. The new
building mass works as an interesting counterbalance
to that of the city's cathedral.

Regards.
