779. Central Post Office, Kharkov-Mordvinov

Dear Richard,

This is the Central Post Office and Police Department
(left side) in Kharkiv. A great constructivist building.
One of the best examples of the revolutionary Russian
modernist architecture that abruptly ended in 1932.

Best regards.

737. Greater Yalts. Druzhba boarding-house

Dear David,

I am sure you will enjoy this outstanding
Soviet brutalist sanatorium built in Yalta,
in the coast of the Black Sea. To get
into this massive building, visitors first
need to cross a bridge encased in a glass
tube. Also, partially showed in the picture,
there is a sea-water swimming pool
suspended between the three gigantic
pillars that support the building and house
elevators and staircases.

Warm regards.

503. Dneprostroy (Dnieper dam)

Dear Leonid,

By the time it was built in 1932, the Dnieper dam was the
largest hydroelectric power station in Europe. This huge
architectural ensemble became a symbol of man's victory
over natural elements.

Respectfully.
R
