Dear Maria Lourdes,

"A work of architecture becomes iconic only when
it captures a spirit and an idea that is relevant to and

Dear Aarno,

"To me, a building as it stands, as a
piece of architecture, is nothing. Its
meaning comes only in counterpoint
with its surroundings, with life, and
with light." (Juha Leiviskä)

Querida Cristina,

Besos,

Dear Stefan

"The concept of architecture is neither unitary or pluralistic, neither closed or open, neither rigid nor free...It is not based on dogmatic position or a political program, but on the aspiration for an architecture characterized by conceptual and thematic restraint. It
is conceived to prevent the rigidity of total order and also the chaos of total independence"
(Oswald Mathias Ungers)

Dear Bill,

As Claude Nicolas Ledoux created a plan for
his famous "Oikema" back in 1779, here Viktor
Djorbenadze devised and built a scultorical
"hermaphrodite space" in 1984.

Dear Sam,

"An architect is given a program, budget,
place, and schedule. Sometimes the end
product rises to art -or at least people
call it that-." (Frank Gehry)

Dear Hans,

“There is a great misunderstanding among architects.
They think they are inventors and always need to be
avant-garde. But you cannot permanently exist as an
avant-garde. That is impossible.”
(Oswald Mathias Ungers)

Querido Aflosno Modinguez

Dear Bernardo,

"Buildings should communicate something, they
should be emotional…What a building feels like
is the important thing. Does it make you laugh?
Does it make you cry?
(Laurinda Spear/ Arquitectonica)

Iconic Imperial Condominium Building is seen on
the left side of this picture showing its animated and colorful garden roof.

Respectfully,
R

321. Macroplaza, Monterrey, N.L., Mexico

Dear Ralph,

Two thin slices painted in bright red form a stele that it
is also a tower; Barragan's one of his obsessions. He
wanted it reaches towards the sky and beyond with
the aid of laser light beams creating a magic effect of
scale that could be consistent with the tremendous size
of the Monterrey's Macroplaza

Querido Juan,

Dear Enric,

Arboles

Me observan en silencio
mientras escribo Y las copas
están llenas de pájaros, ratas,
culebras, gusanos
y mi cabeza
está llena de miedo
y planes
de llanuras por venir

Jan,

The "private perch," as Gehry called
it,a kind of life-guard, is a tiny studio
with a panoramic view. A great spot
to spend time gazing out the beach.

Best.
