torres. Puig i Cadafalch junto con Domènech i Montaner
y Gaudí fue uno de los grandes creadores del
modernismo catalán de principios del siglo XX.
Otras importantes obras de Puig i Cadafalch en
Barcelona fueron la Casa Martí, la Casa Carreras, la
Casa Guarro, la Casa de Pich i Pon, la Casa Amatller
o la Casa Casaramona.

This is a vintage postcard featuring the Van Nelle
Factory built between 1925 and 1931. The complex
shows a clear influence of Soviet Constructivism.
It was in operation until 1997 when it became a
large co-working space.

The Henie Onstads Kunstsenter is one of the
birthplaces of Norway Contemporary Cultural
center. The architects envisioned this building as a
set of concrete oyster shells brought to the site
from the near waterside.
This center along with Oslo Opera House, the new
Munch Museum and many other great sites makes
Oslo a must-see city.

"The Dolphin is this mountain that has struggled its
way to thrust out of the tropical rain forest. That's
why there are banana leaves painted along the side
of the building. It is a mountain that dramatically
arose and in the process its heart exploded and the
water cascades out nine stories down the side of
the hotel, passing through the five clamshell basins
to a fountain and eventually splashing into Crescent
Lake. The walkway from the railings to the
landscaping mimic waves that splash onto the side
of the Swan. Two birds were so awed by this epic
spectacle that they alighted on the top of the waves
to get a better look and were magically transformed

the general master plan for the Nordic Embassies
complex in Berlin were designed by Berger and
Parkkinen. However, each individual
building was designed by architectural teams
selected by national architecture competitions
in their countries: 3XN architects were
responsible for Denmark, PK Hönun for Iceland,
Snøhetta for Norway, Wingårdh Arkitektkontor
for Sweden, and Viiva Arkkitehtuuri Oy for
Finland.

El arquitecto y urbanista uruguayo Mauricio
Cravotto fue responsable de los planes
reguladores de la ciudad de Montevideo y de
la ciudad de Mendoza en Argentina. Entre sus
obras construidas destacan el Montevideo
Rowing Club, el Palacio Municipal y el
mostrado en esta foto postal Hotel Rambla en
Pocitos.
Es interesante también saber que este arquitecto
fue también el responsable del modernista y
neobarroco pabellón uruguayo para la
Exposición Iberoamericana de Sevilla de 1929.

Dear Sophie,
The Lastenlinna Children's Hospital that can be
seen in the bottom of this vintage postcard was
a combination of the Functionalism of the 1930s
and the National Romanticism of the 1940s. The
complex combines a high-rise section with a
curved four-story wards building.
The complex is also beautifully linked to adjacent
Arvo Ylpö Park and Kirjailijanpuisto next to it.
Finally it is worth mentioning that at the opposite end
of these parks where the triangular site can be seen
at the top of the picture the remarkable Alvar
Aalto's National Pensions Institute was built some
years later in 1956.
