1779. Yankee Clipper, Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Dear Raúl,

The Yankee Clipper Hotel is a classic example of the
mid-century tropical architectural style known as Miami
Modern or MiMo. Other remarkable examples of this
style include the Fontainebleau Hotel, the Eden Roc
Miami Beach Hotel, and the Bacardi Building,

Sincerely,
R

Dear Brigitte,

"Form is where light and matter intersect"
(Robert Mallet-Stevens quoting Émile Trélat)

1777. Viljava Nakkila Seurakuntakoti Kirkko

Dear Poul,

The building depicted on the postcard is considered
to be Finland's earliest functional-style church.
Next to the church stands the Nakkila Parish Center
built in 1970 by Juha Leiviskä.

more aware of the beauty of the setting."

1774. Göteborg, Otterhall

Dear Jan,

This is a vintage postcard depicting Otterhall,
Gothenburg's first skyscraper. It is a 17-story
building and was completed in 1929. The two
top floors and roof terrace were occupied by a
restaurant during some years and replaced by
office spaces later on.

Best,
R

Querida Rosalía,

con las manos y en su concavidad
se forman corporales las palabras

1771. Bruxelles Radio-diffusion Nationale Belge

Querida Ester,

Besos,
R

1769. Palacio de los Deportes, Santander, Cantabria

Querido Sergio,

Cuánto medía el pulpo negro
Que oscureció la paz del día?
Eran de hierro sus ramales
Y de fuego muerto sus ojos?
Y la ballena tricolor
Por qué me atajó en el camino?

Pablo Neruda

entre el propósito y la belleza"

Dear Ken,

"We took all the mechanicals off the roof. This freed
us to create a super light cutting-edge structure, a
canopy saturated with light. In doing so, it saved the
airport thousands of tons of steel and reduced the
construction schedule by nine months.”

Querida Cristina

1755. Bat'ovany Partizánske, Slovakia

Dear Henrieta,

The industrial and housing garden city in Bat'ovany
was the last BATA company development built by
architect and urban designer Jirí Voženílek before
WWII. The center of the city is dominated by a
large catholic church that can be seen to the right
and was designed by another great architect:
Vladimír Karfík.

Respectfully,
R

1754. Kouvola, Uimahalli

Querido Juan,

1751. The Hiroshima Prefectural Office

Dear Koji,

Modern architecture in Japan demands some visits
to this country. The Hiroshima office building, with
its serene and clean composition is a good example
of it.

Best regards.

Dear Lucio,

"What we have been doing for years is to ask people to help us organize their landscape. We are the architects and I don’t want to escape from that responsibility of being or deciding, but I do not want to decide alone"

1747. Hôtel de Ville de Yaoundé. Cameroun

Cristina,

Besos,
R
