Enso-Gutzeit Headquarters is one of Aalto's most
controversial building and a stark contrast to the
adjacent Uspensky Cathedral. The main facade
material of the building is white Carrara marble
divided up into squares. Aalto said of the Enso-Gutzeit
building that it "opens up seaward, in a manner
assuming the same role in the townscape as the Riva
degli Schiavoni in Venice" (Venice's principal waterfront)
