En esta vista aérea de la hermosa y monumental ciudad 

de Pontevedra se puede ver al otro lado del rio Lérez el prisma cerrado del pabellón polideportivo municipal diseñado por Alejandro de la Sota y acabado en 1967. Cuando se terminó el edificio tenía "un aire cargado de olores, de sabiduría, un aire transformado por eso mismo, por la Arquitectura", como diría el mismo de la Sota.

1349. Edificio Radiocentro, La Habana, Cuba

Querida Cristina,

La postal que te mando hoy muestra en el centro de la imagen el famoso Edificio Radiocentro un hito de la arquitectura cubana por ser uno de los más brillantes ejemplos de arquitectura moderna levantados en la isla. Los arquitectos fueron los cubanos Emilio del Junco y Miguel Gastón y el arquitecto español exiliado Martín Domínguez Esteban. Este último había trabajado con Carlos Arniches en España entre 1924 y 1936, destacando entre otras obras el nuevo hipódromo de la Zarzuela en Madrid en colaboración con el ingeniero Eduardo Torroja. En La Habana, después del Radiocentro proyectará en colaboración con Ernesto Gómez-Sampere y Bartolomé Bestard el edificio FOCSA, una de los edificios más reconocibles de la ciudad con sus 39 plantas. Martín Dominguez vivió los últimos años de su vida en Nueva
York donde se dedicó a enseñar en la prestigiosa Universidad de Cornell.

The Liberty Hall was the first high-rise building erected in Ireland. The idiosyncratic stack of alternating of light and dark was inspired to the architect by the iconic research tower of the Frank Lloyd Wright's Johnson Wax Headquarters in Racine, Wisconsin.

I heard with sadness that the Philam Life building may be
demolished soon to build a condominium complex that will replace this historic structure. This elegant international-style complex that was built to respond efficiently to the local tropical conditions with its airy facades and gardens includes one of the best performance halls in the entire country and should be definitely saved for future generations.

A handsome vintage picture postcard featuring Kaunas
Central Post Office. This is one of the most significant buildings in the new functionalist style in Lithuania. Spacious halls, adequate light, avoidance of unnecessary decoration, a modern elevator, and even showers for the employees, are just some of the features of this architectural landmark completed in 1932.

Instrucciones para el arquitecto

Nuestro malentendido es de carácter conceptual. Usted ha
hecho ese bonito diseño de mi casa y de mi biblioteca
partiendo del supuesto -muy extendido, por desgracia- de
que en un hogar lo importante son las personas en vez de
los objetos. No lo critico por hacer suyo ese criterio,
indispensable para un hombre de su profesión que no se
resigne a prescindir de los clientes. Pero, mi concepción de mi futuro hogar es la opuesta. A saber: en ese pequeño espacio construido que llamaré mi mundo y gobernarán mis caprichos, la primera prioridad la tendrán mis libros, cuadros y grabados; las personas seremos ciudadanos de segunda. Son esos cuatro millares de volúmenes y el centenar de lienzos y cartulinas estampadas lo que debe constituir la razón primordial del diseño que le he encargado. Usted subordinará la comodidad, la seguridad y la holgura de los humanos a las de aquellos objetos.

El aeropuerto de Copenhague-Kastrup fue diseñado y construido por el arquitecto danés Vilhelm Lauritzen entre 1936 y 1939. Lauritzen fue un gran arquitecto preocupado por los avances tecnológicos, la calidad de los materiales y su puesta en obra. Estos aspectos definen bien su obra y los tuvo siempre en cuenta hasta en sus últimos detalles.
Esta terminal fue ampliada posteriormente en 1961 por el propio Lauritzen en colaboración con Mogens Boertmann.

The Baha'i House of Worship was built by Fariborz Sahba
in New Delhi (India) in 1986, and the Innovation and Foresight International Institute by Denis Laming in Poitiers (France), a year later in 1987. Both buildings were clearly inspired by the form of a lotus flower. The first one closed and the latest opened.
